Welcome to Our New Website!

Not too long ago, defender offices around the country never gave a thought to websites. Websites might have been a new way for private businesses to advertise themselves, but never would the trend move to the public sector.

We in the public sector had it wrong. Truth be told, we all had it wrong.

Today it is hard to imagine running our organizations without the internet regardless of which sector you’re in. In fact, websites today have become multi-faceted communication tools that keep our world humming around the clock. And, as we all know, websites are now just one of many tools used to keep all of us interconnected. Email, blogs, social media, smartphones – the list goes on and on.

Of course, none of these tools are limited to the private sector. Organizations in the public sector quickly learned that efficiency required them to keep up with the private sector when it comes to technology. Little wonder then that federal courts from the Supreme Court on down have websites of their own. Those websites now allow parties to file electronically, search docket sheets, and print out transcripts – all wirelessly done at the convenience of your computer keyboard or smartphone.

Technological progress changes the way people live their lives and run their organizations. Defender offices are no different. We need to keep up with that progress.

Our website, introduced in 2003, was an important step forward for this Office. It allowed key information to be disseminated rapidly, and to create a resource of information for both defense lawyers and the general public. It was a very good first step. But a few years might as well be eons when it comes to the speed of technological progress. So it made sense midway through the last decade to start thinking about ways to keep up with rapid technological progress and improve the impact of our website.

After having worked with the web design firm New Target and having gathered many ideas from all kinds of sources along the way, we introduce for your use our newly renovated website. Like the owners of a newly built house, we anticipate finding some small glitches along the way, but we hope you like the new look and feel of this website. And, more importantly, we hope it develops into a valuable tool for you.

One thing we learned in renovating our website is just how fast things change and how quickly new ideas surface to make good websites even better. Ideas are what count most, especially in our situation where this website is designed to help a broad range of folks – persons working in the legal profession, persons involved with the criminal justice system in some form or fashion, our past, present and future clients, and our clients’ families and friends.

So please don’t be shy. If you have a good idea that will make this website even better, please let us know. All of our contact information is now easily displayed under the ABOUT US tab at the top of our Home Page. We will be updating, modifying, and expanding this website as time goes on, so your input is very important to us.

Thank you for stopping by. We hope this site becomes one of your Favorites!
